Children

Along with the American Association of Orthodontists, we recommend that a child receive their first orthodontic screening by the age 7. By starting treatment early, we are able to recognize potential problems early and correct them before they become more serious. This not only saves you and your child time, but also money.

Some problems require early interceptive orthodontic treatment, while others can be monitored until most of the primary teeth have been lost.

Early orthodontic treatment varies between patients, but may include removable or fixed appliances that can provide more room for crowded, erupting teeth; preserve space for unerupted teeth; create facial symmetry through manipulating jaw growth; reduce the possibility of tooth extraction; and reduce overall treatment time in braces.

Adolescents

Braces will benefit your child at any age. If early interceptive treatment is not needed, most comprehensive treatment on adolescents is started around the time when the 12-year-molars are coming in to take advantage of the rapid growth and development that is occurring around this age.

Adults

Braces aren’t just for kids anymore. It is becoming much more common for adults to have braces. One of every five patients in orthodontic treatment is over 21. Orthodontic treatment can be successful at any age if your gums and bone structure are healthy. It’s never too late to improve your smile!

Adults especially appreciate the benefits of a beautiful smile. As an adult, you understand the importance of a nice smile personally, socially, and professionally. In addition to the smile, straight teeth are easier to clean and maintain. Crooked teeth can contribute to gum disease, bone loss, tooth decay, and abnormal enamel wear.
